Water Educator Training (WET) Week | Santa Clara Valley Water

Valley Water and Ignited have partnered to empower educators through hands-on water education training. Together, WET provides an immersive experiences that connect teachers with real-world water management, sustainability, and green careers—equipping them with the tools and resources to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

Goals:

Empower local educators with the knowledge and tools to inspire students about the Wonders of Water Program.

“Water and Green Jobs Experience Week” by Ignited
This is a week-long, immersive externship for K–12 educators held in the Summer.

Educators from all subject areas explore environmental and water challenges with a focus on green jobs, watershed stewardship, and sustainability.
It's held in the South Bay area and includes a $1,100 stipend and 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
The program is funded in part by Valley Water’s Safe, Clean Water Program.

"Water Week" during Industry Experience Weeks
Under Ignited’s broader programming, “Water Week” provides:

Educators' tours at Valley Water Headquarters in San Jose, observing features like percolation ponds and fish ladders.
Visit the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center, the Alviso Marsh and Wildlife Refuge, the Oakland AMC Adeline Maintenance Center, and take an outdoor boat tour of San Pablo Reservoir.
Teachers engage in lesson planning and learn about climate change mitigation strategies.
