Vasona Pump Station Upgrade Project
Valley Water plans to replace and upgrade aging equipment at the Vasona Pump Station, located at 14545 Oka Road in Los Gatos, to increase the operational reliability and flexibility of Valley Water’s water supply system.
Most of the station’s original equipment is no longer supported by manufacturers, making repairs and replacements difficult. Many of the pumps, motors, drives, valves, actuators and electrical and control systems are overdue for renewal. Left unaddressed, the existing equipment may not be able to meet future demand for treated water under certain scenarios.
This project would replace existing booster pumps, flow meters, motor controls, valves, electrical transformer and power distribution, among other systems and equipment. Installation of a new diesel standby generator and storage tank with double containment to minimize noise is also planned. All improvements would occur within previously developed areas, with most improvements taking place inside existing structures.
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) statute and guidelines, Valley Water prepared an Initial Study of the project’s environmental impacts. Based on the initial study, Valley Water has determined that the project would not result in significant impacts and that a Mitigated Negative Declaration is the appropriate level of CEQA review.
The Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (Final IS/MND) will be available on Jan. 27, 2026.
